Google Business Profile posts: what to post every week (festival calendar for India)

Not sure what to post on your Google profile? Use this simple weekly plan, 20 ready ideas and an Indian festival calendar to stay active all year.

Google Business Profile posts are short updates — an offer, an event, a new product, a festival greeting — that appear on your profile in Google Search and Maps. They are free, they take five minutes, and they show customers that your business is open, active and worth visiting.

The hard part is not posting. It is knowing what to post, every single week. This guide gives you a simple plan you can follow for the whole year.

Why weekly posts matter

  • They show you are active. A profile with a recent post looks cared for; one whose last update was two years ago raises doubts.
  • They help customers decide. An offer or a new menu item can be the nudge someone needs to choose you over the shop next door.
  • They add buttons. Posts can include “Call now”, “Order online” or “Book” buttons that take customers straight to action.

The types of posts you can publish

Updates

General news: new arrivals, behind-the-scenes, tips, team introductions, thank-you messages. These are your everyday posts.

Offers

A discount or special deal with a start and end date, and optionally a coupon code. Perfect for weekend sales and festival offers.

Events

A workshop, tasting, health camp, launch or garba night with a date and time. Great for building footfall.

A simple 4-week rotation

Instead of thinking of a new idea every week, rotate through four themes. Repeat the cycle every month.

  • Week 1 — Show your best: highlight a bestseller, signature dish or popular service.
  • Week 2 — Behind the scenes: how you make, pack or prepare things; your team at work.
  • Week 3 — Offer or reason to visit now: a weekend deal, combo or limited-time item.
  • Week 4 — Trust and helpfulness: a customer thank-you, a useful tip, or an answer to a common question.

Whenever a festival is coming up, replace that week’s post with a festival post — and publish it a few days before the festival, when people are planning their shopping.

For Diwali especially, plan three posts: an early “pre-book your gift boxes” post two to three weeks before, an offer post in Dhanteras week, and a greeting with your festival hours just before the day.

How to write a post that gets calls

  • Lead with the benefit. “Fresh ghewar is back — only till Teej” beats “We have ghewar”.
  • Keep it short. Two to four sentences is enough. The first line matters most.
  • Use a real photo. A clear phone photo of your actual product works better than a stock image.
  • Add a button. Choose “Call now”, “Order online” or “Book” depending on what you want customers to do.
  • Mention your area. “Free delivery in Kothrud and Karve Nagar” helps local customers know you serve them.
  • Follow the rules. Avoid phone numbers in the post text (use the Call button instead) and don’t make misleading claims.

Make it a habit

The businesses that benefit most from posts are simply the ones that keep posting. Block fifteen minutes on a Monday morning, write one post, schedule it, and you’re done for the week.

GMB Toolkit makes this even easier: it shows upcoming Indian festivals with ready ideas, writes the post for you with AI in English, Hindi or Hinglish, creates a matching image in Post Studio, and publishes it on the day you choose — to one location or all of them.
